These widescreen televisions are considered an old technology these days but they do have a huge advantage over the more modern televisions in that they are much cheaper, if you want a very cheap, large screen television then these widescreen televisions are the best option.

While these widescreen televisions are very cheap they are not as good as the modern televisions, they are bulky so have allot of depth which makes them harder to position in a room as they need much more space. They also do not offer the same quality of picture although the quality is still good, they usually have a glass screen which when not in bright conditions will give a good quality picture. These widescreen televisions are also quite large, the most popular sizes are the 28 and 32 inch televisions so they are a reasonable size, most models also offer Nicam sound and good quality stereo speakers.

If you wish to watch television programmes as well as DVD's on the widescreen television then it is good to look for a television with a built in digital tuner as they offer free access to lots of digital television programmes and digital television also offers a much better reception and quality of picture. Some widescreen televisions also come with a stand or cabinet which will support the television, these are usually designed with the television in mind and have room for a DVD player beneath the television so are worth looking for.
